Casa Lanterns
03. 2024 CDMX
Born out of the desire to commemorate my homecoming after 13 years, ‘Casa Lanterns’ is a series of sconces that represent the ritual of burning fabric as an offering of lost time from ‘home.’ Manipulating found fabric with fire was inspired by the experience of burning joss paper at the temple to send fortune to the afterlife. The process was a ceremonial release of guilt and forgiveness.
Creating these nostalgic metaphoric homes allowed me to reclaim heavy memories into light — a literal yet poetic display of lanterns that reflects back in time to make space for future homes.
